Administrative Improvement for initiating Tree Cutting permission in Bengaluru?
Did you know the Cumbersome process of getting approvals for Tree Cutting Permission in Bengaluru delays big infrastructure projects by 6 months to 2 years??
Initiating Tree Cutting permissions was very cumbersome till now as
1. BBMP DCF was responsible for Trees in Road side
2. Bangalore Urban District DCF was responsible for all other trees
If the Road Development Project consists of road widening and new road stretch, then separate files needs to be processed by TWO DEPARTMENTS. Now this is clubbed into ONE Department and BBMP DCF is overall responsible for all Trees in BBMP Limits
Any Tree cutting permission further goes to the Tree Expert Committee (TEC) for approval. The extensive process for assessment and deciding which tree should be relocated or cut is time consuming. With the current backlog, *any project requiring more than 1 Tree to be cut is delayed by 6 months to 2 years*
This TEC is nominated by the High Court and the centralised process is implemented based on a PIL. Bangalore is the ONLY CITY in India which has this process and causes extensive deiays
After Land Acquisition challenges, Tree Cutting Permissions is the second major reason for DELAYS in big projects
Government of Karnataka and Citizens should approach the Courts once again and create a more decentralised process and also constitute 6-8 Tree Expert Committee to ensure the Tree Cutting Permissions are done in 1-3 months timeframe
